In the spirit of football season having kicked into high gear, we are excited to let you know that Sci-Tech Discovery Center will be here to introduce their new Football Exhibit.

So, Join us for a night of old fashioned bingo FUN and find out how fun it is to combine football and science…!! We’ll get a glimpse into… different aspect of the game, from the physics of tackling to the balance needed for cheerleading with a mixture of artifacts, text, videos and hands-on activities.

This Side UP! Family Center is honored to have been selected as a local non-profit who will provide volunteers (and receive funding for doing so) to fuel this amazing community event!

Volunteers will sell tickets / wristbands for the activities in the Kids’ Fun Zone. Each volunteer will receive a 3 day admission pass for the Festival, a volunteer parking pass for the day they volunteer, and our appreciation for their time and energy!!

This Month’s Topic: Keeping Our Kids Safe!

The best way to protect children from abuse is having positive, open communication with them on an ongoing basis starting when they are young. Children normally don’t speak up if they are being abused but are more likely to if they have a trusted adult who has proactive communication with them already. Ellen White, from the YMCA, will speak to us about protecting our children.
